Preventing the Spread

There are simple steps to stop the spread of COVID-19.

  • Wear a mask when in public and around other people. It is one of the most important tools we have to slow the spread of COVID-19. Learn more about masking.
  • Practice physical distancing - keeping at least six feet between you and others. Learn more about physical distancing.
  • Wash hands with water and soap or with sanitizer for at least 20 seconds.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or your elbow when coughing or sneezing.
  • Don't touch your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.

Other Ways You Can Keep Yourself & Your Family Healthy

  • Take everyday preventive actions to stay healthy.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other physical distancing measures.
